We had a week’s holiday on the island of Lanzarote a few years ago. It was all about relaxation, eating good food and soaking up some sun. Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands and is a surprisingly striking island, due to its volcanic terrain and lava fields – it may seem bleak at first glance, but it is strangely charismatic.
On strolling down to the Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca for dinner one evening, we were treated to this view and sunset on the horizon.
Another fabulous sunset from around the world! I can never get enough of them!
Beautiful!

That’s definitely a beautiful view, thanks for sharing it. What was the food like on the island?

Thank you! We rented a villa which had the most amazing brick bbq so we had those quite often and they were great! The food we had at restaurants was ok, but I found that they all seemed to offer similar things….maybe we just weren’t going to the right places!

I was actually so surprised by Lanzarote…went back in 2019 for a little sun and R&R and ended up being completely bowled over by its landscapes and all things Cesar Manrique! So much so that I ended up buying an art print for my flat – something I’d never done before on my travels!
Lovely island captured so well in your sunset image 🙂

Thank you 🙂 I was exactly the same, I thought I might find it a bit bleak, but in actual fact the scenery is stunning (in a surface of the moon kind of way!). It’s a lovely island though isn’t it, lots to offer.
