Because I love…

… KOOKABURRAS!

I don’t know what it is about these birds, but they fascinate me.  I was lucky enough to see a few on my last trip to Australia. They frequented the garden of the house that we were staying at quite regularly.  They would appear in the early morning and I would sit as still as possible on the veranda, with a cup of tea (of course!), watching them until they were disturbed and flew off.

I managed to sneak up on one and take a photo – it perched on the fence for a while, watching the grass intently.  I am always surprised at their size, they are not small birds!  I guess Aussies are used to their presence, but I just love seeing them when I visit!
