The Ancient site of Koh Ker: Cambodia

The Ancient site of Koh Ker: Cambodia

I mentioned in my previous post that my trip to Cambodia in 2019 had been primarily made up of temple hopping. Basing ourselves in Siem Reap, we had explored Angkor Wat again (in great detail!), but also ventured up to Preah Vihear, a temple perched high on a mountain top on the Cambodian/Thai border. This [...]

How I spent 13 days in Cambodia in a relaxed fashion!

As I mentioned in an earlier post I got back to the UK in the nick of time in March, before all of the coronavirus restrictions kicked off in earnest. I had been to Australia and was lucky enough to fit in a 13 day trip to Cambodia on the way back, before returning to [...]

Posting Travel Content during the Coronavirus Pandemic

I was unsure whether I should post articles about travel at the moment, as we are all trying to deal with the events that are unfolding around us everywhere in the world. I am mindful that of course travel is just not an option, or a priority, at the moment and with the travel industry [...]

Travel amid the Covid-19 crisis: my experience

I have just returned from a month long trip overseas...and it looks like I got back to the UK in the nick of time! As we left in mid February, the virus was just starting to kick off and as we returned on Friday it had very much taken hold. And of course, since then [...]

Accommodation Review: The Cashew Nut Villas, Siem Reap

Accommodation Review: The Cashew Nut Villas, Siem Reap

This guesthouse had been on my radar for a few years.  I had noted it in its previous incarnation, The Cashew Nut Guesthouse (I think it was the cashew nuts that caught my eye, I love them!!) and read many great reviews which sung its praises. It sounded like a great place, reasonably priced and [...]

Preah Vihear: A Day Trip From Siem Reap

Preah Vihear: A Day Trip From Siem Reap

There were a few things that I decided I would like to do when I knew that we were going to return to Siem Reap. The first thing was to see Angkor Wat from the air on the Angkor Balloon. The second was a little trickier - two options, either a trip to Battambang or [...]

The Best Tuk-Tuk Driver in Siem Reap!

What can I say, I think we totally lucked out with our tuk-tuk driver in Siem Reap. We were picked up by Mr Rith, aka, Mr Why Not (which is also his catchphrase!) at the airport and taken to our accommodation - The Cashew Nut Villas (fantastic place - full review to follow!). He was [...]

Flying High Over Angkor Wat!

Flying High Over Angkor Wat!

An aerial view of Angkor Wat?!!  Well, don't mind if I do! That was my initial thought when I knew we were going to return to Siem Reap to visit Angkor Wat again. This would be my fourth time returning to the town to see the temples that it is famous for and I was [...]

The last gasps of Autumn! These colours have kept me going through a second lockdown. Walks in the fresh air in lovely scenery have been definite good mood boosters! Beautiful 💕

Preah Vihear, an ancient temple that sits atop a cliff in the mountains on the Cambodia/Thai border. A place full of history which has commanding views across the surrounding area. It's definitely worth a visit! I took a (long!) daytrip there from Siem Reap, read all about my experience on my blog, link in bio!
