Because I Love…

…BLOGGING!!!

Well, I never thought that I would be uttering those words in the same sentence in a million years!!

But there you go, it’s proof that life is full of surprises!

I’ve been reflecting on my blog a lot this past week and what it means to me. I’ve been looking at it and wondering what else I can do to improve it (any suggestions gratefully received!).

But the thing that has stood out to me is how I feel when I start thinking about it, or about a new post I can write…I love it! This feeling bubbles up inside me which I can only describe as happiness and enjoyment. I have even loved learning all the techie stuff associated with it (although there’s no guarantee I have understood it, but I’ve found it interesting!).

It may be hard work at times, there may be moments when I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing, or that I have nothing to say (as demonstrated at the beginning of the year when I lost my blogging mojo for a little while), but I’ve always found my way back and the enjoyment has bubbled up to the surface again!

Writing about my travels has allowed me to focus on them in more depth.  It’s allowed me to keep the travelling spirit alive in between my trips. And, most surprisingly to me, it’s actually given me a greater appreciation of what I already have around me and on my doorstep.  I always want to jet off somewhere far away…that desire isn’t disappearing any time soon and I am lucky enough to be able to satisfy that whim as often as I do. But I also have amazing places to see and visit right here.  Sometimes that will just have to do!

Apart from travel, I have drafted quite a few personal posts, which, as of yet, I don’t feel ready to publish…but maybe one day I will!  Through writing I’ve found a way to reflect on the issues in my life.  I go back to those posts every now and then and re-read what I’ve written, I surprise myself with my candidness, not something that I’m known for when talking about my personal issues….but it’s so much easier to write about them!

Blogging has also opened up a world and an amazing community to me that I had no idea existed.  It’s given me back some of my confidence that had disappeared over the years and I’ve rediscovered a little of my self-belief!

I know I’ve said it before (and I will no doubt say it again!) but thank you to those who have helped and supported me along the way. Thank you to everyone who has liked, commented, followed and interacted, it’s been absolutely brilliant so far and long may it continue!

  1. Sounds great!!! 🤗 Happy to hear you are so inspired and enjoy it! I love blogging too, and like you, I started off with travel posts, then drifted off towards more personal ones. I was shy at first but that’s when it really got interesting to be honest!! Hope you’ll decide to publish those drafts one day! But really, it’s up to you. When the time is right

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, I’m definitely the same, and definitely too shy at the moment to publish the personal posts! I think I’ll get there though, I was absolutely terrified of publishing my first post and I got over that, so hopefully one day…!

  2. Yes, to all of this! Especially ‘it’s actually given me a greater appreciation of what I already have around me and on my doorstep’…for me one of the main reasons I started blogging. I wanted to retain that feeling I have when I travel and try to incorporate it in daily life. Beauty is everywhere, and although wanderlust is always tempting…right here and right now matters too! Happy to read whatever you post, be it travel related or more personal 😉
    Just keep blogging! 😀

    1. Aaah, thank you!!! I totally agree with everything you said, trying to incorporate that travel feeling into daily life was also an ambition of mine. And you are right, beauty is everywhere, we just have to see it! Thanks again – and hopefully one day I’ll feel ready to publish a few more personal posts!

      1. You’re welcome! And even if you don’t post more personal posts…that’s totally fine. I think writing about travelling is also or can also be personal. When I got more experienced in travelling, I felt that’s how I came closest to who I am and want to be. If that makes sense, haha.

        1. It makes total sense to me! I’ll see what happens with the personal posts, I’d like to do something with them, but probably just not yet. Yes, agree that travel posts can be personal too, it’s not all about the destination is it, but about your experience/thoughts/emotions whilst exploring these places too 🙂

    1. It is isn’t it! I was petrified about the whole thing to begin with, totally out of my comfort zone, but the thing that really helped me was the wonderful community who have been so welcoming, supportive and positive. I can’t thank you all enough 🙂

  3. I can so relate! I remember telling one of my sisters when I was thinking of starting a blog that I didn’t want to spend too much time writing. Ironically, that has turned out to be one of my greatest pleasures. And I get so excited when I publish a post about the possibility of others sharing the wonderful experiences that I have had.
