My Response to the Questions (I may have waffled on a bit here!)

Why did you start blogging in the first place?

I started this blog last year. I was feeling in need of some sort of creative output and thought about combining it with my passion for travel, to write about and share tales and photos from my trips. And Dusty Flip-Flops was born! Well, it wasn’t quite as simple as that and it didn’t happen overnight. I deliberated about it for a long time, thinking that there was no way I could do it. It took some encouragement from one particular friend (for which I will be eternally grateful) to actually take the plunge and here I am!

What is your favourite book?

I’m not sure I have a favourite book really (cue sharp intake of breath from avid readers!).  Although one of my most treasured possessions is my old, original copy of Around the World in 80 days, which I got signed by Michael Palin!!  I do enjoy reading a lot though and at the moment I am reading The Shadow Queen by Anne O’Brien, an historical novel about Joan of Kent. I do love a good historical novel, particularly about the Plantagenet and Tudor periods! I’ve learnt so much about those periods just from reading books such as these and of course, Philippa Gregory!

What do you dislike the most?

Baked beans! I just don’t get them! Well, that is a trivial answer really and I don’t dislike them above everything else, but they instantly came to mind!

What is your favourite food at the mall?

I guess they are what we call shopping centre’s here and I don’t tend to eat at them much. My favourite food at the moment though is sweet potato…particularly in chip form!  I keep thinking that they are healthier than normal potatoes, but probably not when covered in oil to be roasted!

What is your favourite pastime?

Ok, I’m going to sound very boring now! Travelling when I can would be my number one pastime, but I of course can’t do that all the time (as much as I’d like to!). Since starting this blog, it has definitely become a big hobby of mine, so I spend quite a bit of time working on it and trying to learn more skills. When I’m not doing that, I do like catching up with a bit of TV (currently watching The 100 – it’s not the best series I’ve seen in the world, but I am stockpiling the new series of Westworld and can’t wait to crack on with that soon!).  And I do enjoy baking, I like throwing together a gluten free chocolate cake when I get the chance!
